Make it Go Slower

Time laid out in the sand
Bare feet on the ground
Sun going down

Time like a blade of grass
Green and then brown and then green again
Stone into sand until no end

You can kill time
Wait til it’s over
You can live
Make it go slower

Time twisted in the grass
Bottle of wine
Thought I’d make you mine

Time is your next best guess
Sun into scars on your wrinkled skin
Here and then gone who knows when

You can kill time
Wait til it’s over
You can live
Make it go slower
Make it go slower

Oh the green grass
Sun is your lover
Just when you’ve found
The big yellow it’s over
Cut down by a man on a mower
The big yell is over

You can kill time
Wait til it’s over
You can live
Make it go slower
Make it go slower
Make it go slower

I hope this finds you somewhere living, breathing, slowly drinking up the dregs of summer. The Color Green has been out and about for over a month now and it means the world to me to you are listening. Thank you. Special thanks to all the sweeties that braved the 100 degree weather to come to my album release show a few weeks ago. It was truly the sweetest green dream come true.

ICYMI: Here is a live performance of Gasoline Daydream from the big show, featuring Sam Weber on guitar, Micah Hummel on drums, and Tejas Leier-Hayden on bass. I am truly so honored to make music with these kind and talented humans (and as it turns out, I even get to marry the drummer !!!)

Portland: I am playing a DIY Yard Show this Sunday, September 21 at my friend Alison’s house in NE and I would love to see you there. It will feature four short sets by Mirabelle Skipworth and Katelyn Fajardo (who are on tour all the way from Pittsburgh!!), plus our gracious host Nosila and me too! I played a house show in Philly with Mirabelle last Spring and she truly blew me away. We even sang a song together last time, so let’s see what happens! There will also be a cocktail pop-up and poetry by Father McKenzie. As our country continues to spiral deeper and deeper into a dystopian hellhole, the only true antidote I know is being together in community. Shall we? You can find tickets here. Use code “YARDSHOW” for $8 off.

This music is made possible by people like you. Consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Also for Portland: Micah (my fiance!!!) and I opened up a community music space in NE Portland called Second Story Studios. We are hosting educational workshops, listening room concerts, and community events featuring some of our favorite artists in Portland and beyond. It has become one of the most nourishing parts of my creative life lately. Stay tuned here if you’d like to be a part of it! *We’ve got some online workshops coming up too.

For the Patty Griffin fans (are you out there?): I am playing two Patty songs in this Long Ride Home tribute show on October 9 at Alberta Street Pub. :)

For everyone, everywhere: My online shop is updated with all of the fresh Color Green goodies: CDs, vinyl records, candles, risograph prints, t-shirts, baseball caps, and lyric books. Buying merch and music is the best way to support indie artists! One vinyl record is the monetary equivalent of 10,000 streams on Spotify. Wild! As a thank you for being here, use code “EMAIL10” at checkout for 10% off your next order. Good for the next week. <3

For paid subscribers only: Here is an audio recording of last month’s album release show in its entirety! That’s all 10 songs from The Color Green played live with my dream band, plus perhaps some silly stage banter and awkward silences in between !!! Enjoy.
